Price, Booking Fee & Payment Terms

Prices

  • All prices are non-negotiable, and priced according to your design, and size of your cake.

  • We do not ‘price match’ as our prices are based upon our high standard of work and quality ingredients used.

  • We can usually work with a reasonable budget and will discuss the designs available within your price range.

  • Following your consultation/enquiry, your quote is valid for 1 month. Paying your booking fee (see below) secures this price and prevents any further price increases, except:

  1. In exceptional circumstance beyond our control e.g.  exceptional fuel price increase, flower price increase etc, and

  2. In case of changes you make to the agreed requirements.

All our prices include GST

Booking Fee

  • The price of your cake will be set out in your order confirmation. A 25% booking fee for wedding cakes is required in order to secure your chosen date and the commissioning of your cake with ‘Chanté Louise Cake Studio’. (At times we are fully booked, and lack or your booking fee can lead to your place given to another client).

  • For all other cakes £25 booking fee is required to secure the date.

  • If your booking fee is not paid within 4 weeks of quoting then we reserve the right to cancel any previous arrangements.

Payment/Late Payments

  • Payment can be made by bank transfer to the account specified. Allow 3 working days for payment by debit/credit cards to clear. For your convenience payment can be arranged by PayPal. Late payments will incur a £25 charge.

  • You should email us with conformation of the transfer in order to facilitate prompt acknowledgement of the payment.

  • For wedding cakes a detailed confirmation will be issued detailing the final balance and payment details. The client accepts responsibility for sending this payment as a reminder invoice will not be issued.

  • If full payment is not received and cleared in our account before the date set out in the order confirmation we consider this as a breach of contract by the client. We reserve the right to hold the order until payment is made in full. When the payment is late we accept no responsibility should we be unable to purchase the required stock or equipment to make the cake as laid out in the order confirmation. In these circumstances the cake will be made as close to the order confirmation as possible with no redress or liability on Chanté Louise Cake Studio.

Design Conditions

Chante Louise aims to produce cakes of the highest quality that meet the desires of the clients as we understand them.

  • Each cake is made from scratch by hand. While every effort is made to ensure consistency in baking, a small amount of variation may occur in both flavour and texture of the recipe.

  • Reference Material. Chante Louise will make every effort to care for and return any reference materials which you provide, however (unless covered by our existing insurance policy) Chante Louise will not accept liability for the materials in the event of loss or damage.

Use of Images

Each cake design is unique and made exclusively by Chanté Louise Cake Studio. The customer has no ownership rights over any cake design. All rights in any original designs created and designed by us shall remain the exclusive property of Chanté Louise Cake Studio

All images on www.chantelouisecakestudio.co.uk website are taken and used for marketing purposes for www.chantelouisecakestudio.co.uk website and/or marketing material for open public view through marketing material, brochures and electronic marketing, including press and/or digital print and digital transmission, without compensation to the client.

Alternative arrangements if required should be negotiated prior to final agreement of the Quotation Document.

Cancellation, Postponement , Alterations & Changes to Quotation Document

In the event of a cancellation by yourselves, charges are as follows;

More than 90 days prior to the date = booking fee only.

Ninety days to one calendar month prior to the date = booking fee plus half the remaining cost.

Less than one month prior to the date = full amount.

Any payments made previously are not refundable.

In the event of postponement, the payment due remains the same as a cancellation. Subject to availability we will carry the monies forward to the new wedding date. Please be aware that we will only do this on one occasion. Any further postponements will be classed as a cancellation.

It is your responsibility to read and check the quotation document thoroughly; any amendments should be made in writing; 8 weeks before wedding day and 7 days for celebration cakes. Should you make any changes after that time, there will not be a reduction in the price you pay, even if your new design is cheaper than the original booking.

If requested, we would endeavour to adjust the design where possible, but sometimes this is not possible due to the nature of the request or the amount of notice given.

Minor changes will be accommodated; however major changes will result in a re-quote.

If the alteration affects the cost, or preparation work for the original design has already been undertaken, then your balance will be adjusted accordingly. Alterations are not confirmed until a new order confirmation has been issued.

Please warn us when your pay your booking fee if you are undecided about the design. We receive the right to change the design at any point, if circumstances beyond our control, may compromise the quality of the cake design. E.g. buttercream and fresh cream melting due to weather and sugarcraft decorations wilting in humid conditions.

We reserve the right to any minor design alterations we deem necessary to the style, decoration, proportion or structure of your cake. Subjectively the structural limitations will mean no 2 designs are the same even if made by the same decorator.

In the unlikely event that we need to cancel your order any monies paid will be refunded. Chanté Louise Cake Studio reserves the right to cancel, vary or suspend the operation of this contract if events occur which are in the nature of force majeure including (without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing): fire, floods, storm, plant breakdown, strike, lock outs, riot, hostilities, non-availability of materials or supplies or any other event outside the control of Chanté Louise Can Studio, and Chanté Louise Cake Studio shall not be liable for any breach of contract resulting from such an event.

Chanté Louise Cake Studio’s liability (both in contract and tort) in respect of defects in goods or services shall be limited to the issue of a credit note in respect there of or granting a refund or other such compensatory measures as Chanté Louise Cake Studio, at its discretion, considers appropriate in the circumstances and shall be limited to the to the value of the goods or services giving rise to the claim.

Chanté Louise Cake Studio shall not under any circumstances be liable for the customer respect of indirect consequential loss or damage or loss of profits, provided always that these conditions do not exclude or restrict Chanté Louise Cake Studio's statutory liability for death or personal injury arising from any negligence on Chanté Louise Cake Studio’s part or liability imposed by statutory implied terms in Consumer Contracts.

Allergies and Special Dietary Requirements

  • Our regular recipes will almost always contain dairy products, egg, gluten and sometimes nuts. The client assumes responsibility for advising guests of this fact and that traces may be present even if the ingredient(s) are not included in the recipe.

  • If you have ordered a special dietary cake we adopt a strict regime in our facility to ensure cross contamination does not occur at our facility. Full details are available on request.

Non-Edible Items

  • Most special occasion cakes contain small proportions of inedible items; it is the client’s responsibility to ensure these are removed by your caterer/guests before consumption. This includes support dowels in tiered and layered cakes, ribbon, wires in sugar flowers, Swarovski crystals, flower picks & flower tape (where fresh flowers are used). Most of our custom cake toppers contain inedible items and are not suitable for human consumption.

Delivery & Setup

  • A delivery and set up fee calculated on a mileage and time basis will be charged. Alternatively, cakes can be collected from our premises via appointment.

  • If you choose delivery by “Chanté Louise Cake Studio”, it is our intention that your cake will be delivered in perfect condition prior to the start of your reception. However we ask for patience with unforeseen factors that may be beyond our control (e.g. traffic conditions, vehicle breakdown or access to the venue) as we cannot be held liable for any such delays.

  • In some circumstances, we may recommend your cake is delivered 1 day in advance.

  • It is the client’s responsibility to ensure you inform us of your correct ceremony & reception time plus the correct address and postcode of the venue. In the unlikely event of late delivery, the maximum compensation you will receive will be a refund of the delivery price.

  • It is the client’s responsibility to ensure arrangements are made for the cake table, linen and cake stand (if one is to be used) are set up prior to our agreed arrival time. A knife should be available as well. If any delay is incurred due to the item not being in place we reserve the right to leave the cake with the event manager to set up/move into position as appropriate.

  • Please take extra care to ensure stable cake table if you are having a marquee wedding.

  • Fondant cakes and decorations will become sticky and wilt in moist conditions, and for this reason, should not under any circumstances be refrigerated. You are responsible for liaising with the venue in this regard.

  • A cake covered with fondant or one featuring fondant decorations should not be located in an area with open doors and windows when the weather is humid or when it is raining outside.

  • Alternative arrangements need to be available for display of your fondant covered cake in very humid or wet weather conditions in the case of garden and parkland weddings held in the open.

  • We cannot be held liable for any damage that is rendered to the cake at the venue once we have left the premises. It is with this in mind that we require somebody responsible to check that they are happy with the cake before we leave.

  • If you chose to collect your cake, we will not be held liable for any damage to the cake once it is in your hands. Tiered cakes are most at risk during transport so please seek our advice on how to transport it. If the cake is for a wedding we highly recommend you check your wedding insurance covers cake damage.

  • Collection is only available by appointment. To ensure your cake is as fresh as possible, we recommend it is collected the morning of your function.

  • Late requests for delivery (after securing the booking based on collection) will be accommodated where possible, but cannot be guaranteed, as earlier delivery commitments must take priority.

Emergency Procedures

Because we take every precaution to ensure all our cakes are appropriately decorated and properly structured its unlikely something will go wrong, however we would like to cover this circumstance to ensure you have peace of mind on your special day.

  • Occasionally incidents may occur that are out of our control such as accidents, humidity etc. We will do everything in our power to correct any damage that may have been done to the cake – this might include minor changes like adding ribbon, flowers, replacing tiers with a dummy tier or changing decorations around. However, if the above mentioned is not an option, as an absolute last resort, we may have to provide you with an existing display cake, and subject to the conditions outlined in the “Delivery & Setup Clauses” above, compensate you after the event.

Storage & Compensation

Damage

  • Please remember that cake decorations are very delicate items, and we cannot accept responsibility for damage that is done to the cake after it has left our possession. This includes any decoration implemented by your florist.

  • If any damage is rendered to the cake after it has left our possession, then you can advise us and request a repair, which will be costed accordingly, including transport costs if appropriate.

  • Should we be required to attend to repair your cake under these circumstances, you will be charged a call out fee of x amount (which covers travelling time) with an additional x amount per hour or part thereof while repairs are being made.

Portion Guide

  • Our portion guides are intended as a guide only – coffee serves are based on finger sized serving

Best Before Date

  • Your cake is baked to ensure it is fresh for the date of your event. After this date, we advise sponge cakes are frozen

  • Our cakes are made from scratch entirely of natural ingredients, so we’d like to remind you that, because of this, they will not have the extended shelf life of most supermarket cakes, which contain additives & preservatives to ensure the prolonged life.

Storage Conditions

  • If you plan to keep any of the cake tiers, please advise us what cake boxes you would like to be left on site ( so that you can safely transport them the following day). Otherwise we shall remove all cake boxes from the venue to ensure we leave it as soon as possible.

  • Once home

  • Cakes Covered with fondant should not be refrigerated

  • If you collect your cake beforehand please store in a cool, dry environment
